The National Birth Center Directory Is Live!

A new resource to help families find birth centers — and to celebrate and strengthen the birth center movement nationwide.

The National Birth Center Directory is officially live!

This new, community-driven resource was created to make it easier for families to find birth centers and for centers to connect with one another across states, networks and affiliations.

Our goal is simple: to bring all U.S. birth centers together in one searchable, easy-to-use directory that celebrates the diversity, reach and impact of the birth center model of care.

National Birth Center Directory with a Butterfly

Why the National Birth Center Directory Was Created

Across the country, birth centers are providing safe, family-centered and evidence-based care — often serving as anchors for maternal health equity and community well-being.

But until now, there hasn’t been one place where every birth center — regardless of membership status, accreditation or location — could be easily found by families, advocates and collaborators.

The National Birth Center Directory aims to change that by offering a comprehensive, inclusive resource that highlights the full scope of the birth center movement.

This is not a replacement for other membership or accreditation directories — it’s a complement and connector, designed to strengthen visibility and collaboration across the field.

Why the Butterfly

The butterfly is the symbol of the National Birth Center Directory — chosen for what it represents: transformation, connection and emergence.

Just as the butterfly moves through distinct stages of growth, birth centers embody transformation — guiding families through one of life’s most powerful transitions with gentleness and strength.

The butterfly’s wings, often seen as fragile yet capable of incredible journeys, also remind us of the resilience and reach of the birth center movement. From small community roots to national impact, birth centers are creating ripples of change that extend far beyond their walls.

And like the migration of butterflies — many individuals moving in harmony toward a shared destination — the Directory brings birth centers together into a single, visible network. United, we can go farther.
